Somato Emotional Release

I have just returned from Christchurch where I attended a 5-day course on Somato Emotional Release using Craniosacral Therapy. Basically, releasing past emotional or traumatic issues that have lodged in the tissues of the body.

The skills we learned were practiced on each other, so I am still processing the work on my own body this week. I was able to confront a physical symptom I have been carrying, which related to an incident that occurred almost 20 years ago, that has been bubbling away unnoticed in my non-conscious ever since.

It took me by complete surprise, but I’m pleased that one has been released. Apart from now working through a virus, I feel much more settled and present in my body, and clearer in my head. I think it is essential for therapists to do their own work, to be credible therapists for others.

I will be offering this therapy for others when appropriate, and by agreement with the individual.

It still uses the same techniques that you have been used to with me already, but fewer of them, and held for longer. I will focus on one or two energy cysts that are identified, that can have a global effect in the body-mind space.

Treatment is based on the premise that the body holds it’s own Inner Wisdom to heal itself, but it just needs a few resources, via the therapist, to access that healing wisdom. Through the session it also involves dialogue between the therapist, the client, or more accurately between both of our Inner Wisdom’s that usually reside in the non-conscious space.

So, for those of you who would like a little more talking during the sessions, rather than my usual holding space with silence, then you may be in luck!

Singing & The Throat Chakra

I know there are a few of you involved in singing in one form or another. The Craniosacral course that I have just completed has given us new techniques to support vocalists’ higher and lower registers by releasing tension from infrahyoid, retrohyoid and suprahyoid muscle groups, in conjunction with the full mouth protocol that some of you have already had. It’s collectively known as ‘The Avenue of Expression’.

It can also help more generally with anyone wanting to improve their confidence to Speak Their Own Truth, supporting the throat chakra, of course.

We also learnt some other cool stuff around chakra support generally and organ meridians. Lots of great ideas to share.

Let me know if you’d like to try it out?!
